1. Foam Roller
I have heard such GOOD things about the use of foam rollers for running. Foam rollers are helpful to runners. "Limit soreness and tightness by increasing blood flow and flexibility.
The foam roller, like traditional stretching, is a great tool for lengthening and elongating muscles, but its benefits are especially helpful for runners, who often suffer from tight and fatigued muscles. Instead of simply lengthening the muscle, a foam roller massages muscles intensely, much like a massage from a massage therapist, but without the heavy cost.
When used often and correctly, the foam roller can help runners avoid many sport-related injuries, explained Bryan Hill, a physical therapist and co-owner of Rehab United, a physical therapy center in San Diego."
2. GPS Watch
I know what your thinking. "Blake, don't you already have a watch?" And yes I used to have a GPS watch. :( I took my watch to work one day to charge and I have not seen it since. I don't know if I just misplaced it or if someone took. I'm hoping the former. So, I haven't brought myself to buy another watch. I bought my watch on sell and I just don't want to shell out $250 for another watch. I know I will need to start considering another watch as I get closer to training for my upcoming marathon and half marathon. Hopefully, I'll be gifted one! LOL
3. Sports Bras
I tell ya, the difference between a good sports bra and a bad sports bra is like night and day. I used to buy the rinky dink sports bras from Walmart. But one day my friend had ordered a Moving Comfort sports bra from Amazon in a size too small. I bought it from her and I never looked back! LOL I love Moving Comfort sports bras. I have slowly built up my collection of them, but at $30-50 a pop, its been slow coming LOL
4. Exercise Shoes
Right now I use my running shoes for anything athletic. I would love to have a separate pair of shoes to use at the gym versus the ones that I use to run in. I wear out my running shoes very easily by wearing them for all fitness activities. I haven't figured out which type of exercise shoes that I want and my price point would have to be pretty low. Any suggestions?
5. A Better gym
Right now I am a member of SNAP fitness in New Orleans, but when my membership is up in August I plan to look for another gym. I like SNAP fitness because it was affordable and 24 hours, but there is no shower and no classes. I would like to find a gym close to my house that is reasonably priced, early hours, classes that are offered throughout the day and a shower. I know that I will have to pay more than what I am paying for SNAP fitness, but I would have more flexibility in working out if I could head straight to work after the gym.
